En mia televidilo, mi havas televid-kanalon CCTV-9, el Ĉinujo. En tiu ĉi televid-kanalo, estas historion pri malsana virino, kiu resaniĝis per 'street dancing' (strato-dancado).

Ŝi diris: en vendejo, ŝi vidis virinon, kiu tre bone dancis. Ŝi demandis la vendiston pri la virino. Li diris, ke la virino ne estis virino, sed Mikaelo (angle: Michael) Jackson.

La ĉinino aĉetis televid-diskon de Mikaelo Jackson, kaj revidis ĝin multfoje, ĉar ŝi volis lerni danci en stilo de Mikaelo Jackson.

Mi Malsukcesis en Lingvoekzameno

Hodiau mi vizitis la ret-lokejo 'Lernu!' por plibonigi mian Esperanton. Chi tie estas multe da Esperanto-kursojn, en multaj niveloj.

Mi decidis, la lingvoekzameno, baza nivelo, provi. Ne estas malfacila, sed, mi malsukcesis. El 50 fragoj, estas 46 korektaj respondoj. Sed mi havis du malkorektaj respondoj en unu parto de la ekzameno, kaj la maksimumo estas usu eraro en chiu parto.


Today I visited the web site 'Lernu!' to improve my Esperanto language skills. There are many Esperanto courses there at a variety of levels.

I decided to take the language exam at the basic level. It wasn't difficult, but I failed the exam. Out of 50 questions, I had 46 right answers. But I had 2 incorrect answers in one part of the exam, and the maximum allowed is one error in each part of the exam.

Sep Misiloj por Sendependeco-Tago

Hodiau estas 'Sendependeco-Tago' en Usono. Oni ankau nomis ghin 'la kvaran de Julio'. Kaj la kara sinjoro, kiu regas Norda Koreujo, donas al ni bela donaco--- sep misiloj! Kia dolcha donaco! Fajrajhoj estas la kutimo por Sendependeco-Tago.

Aliaj kutimoj por la tago: oni manghas 'hot dogs', kiu estas tipo de kolbaso. Oni havas piknikoj kaj fajrrosto-festoj. Estas multe da Usona-flagoj. Oni kantas patriotajn kantojn.

La flago supren estas la 48-stelo-flago. Usona uzas tiu chi flago dum la Dua Mondmilito. Nun havas Usono plu da shtatoj--- 50, kaj ankau 50 steloj sur la flago.

Today is Independence Day in the USA. We also call the holiday 'The Fourth of July'. And the dear, sweet dictator of North Korea is helping us celebrate by firing 7 missiles. What a sweet gift! Fireworks are a custom on Independence Day.

Other customs of the day: eating 'hot dogs', a kind of sausage. One has picnics and barbecues. There are many US flags. One sings patriotic songs.

The flag above is the 48-star flag. The US used it during the Second World War. Now the US has more states--- 50, and also 50 stars on the flag.

(English) Obama's first priority as president has been to sign a bill which will allow for the killing of third world babies by abortionists, paid for by US taxpayer dollars. The abortion industry is happy. But what about the third world people? Wouldn't they rather have health care aid than abortions? Many third world countries have not yet accepted the culture of death. They still know that to kill an unborn child is murder. Barack Obama, who was possibly born in Kenya, has no pity on African children. That is very sad. And why should US taxpayers pay for foreign 'family planning' programs? Isn't it insulting to tell foreigners to have fewer children? And it is racist as well. I hope many will fight against the evil of abortion in their own countries. Human Life International is one organization that can help in the fight. It has many groups around the world.

(English) A Florida woman who had a stroke this past December may be killed by dehydration and starvation at the request of her husband. The woman's mother says that her daughter, Karen Weber, is aware and responsive, and does not want to die. The husband claims Karen is in a 'vegetative state'. A lawyer for Karen's mother says Karen indicated to him that she does not want to die. A lawyer for Karen's husband claims she is unresponsive. In many previous 'right to live' cases, the pro-death attorney has claimed the patient to be unresponsive even when others have seen evidence to the contrary. Actress Shell Kepler (Amy Vining) dies * Shell Kepler mortis

(English) An actress from the American soap opera 'General Hospital', Shell Kepler, died Feb. 1st. She played the role of nurse Amy Vining from 1979 to 2002. In the General Hospital storyline, Amy Vining was the adoptive sister of Laura Vining Webber. Laura married Luke Spencer in the most watched soap opera wedding ever. Amy was a nurse at the hospital known for gossiping. Shell Kepler was born October 5, 1959. She began trying out for acting parts before she was old enough to drive. Her given name was Michelle Alaine Kepler. I have been watching General Hospital since I was a child and have many fond memories of the performances of Shell Kepler. May she rest in peace!

(English) In Philadelphia a collection of hair samples from US Presidents is on display. The hair is from the first 12 US presidents. But it inspired artist Dan Lacey to create the above cartoon, which speculates about a more modern collection of presidential hair. :-) Lacey says: In a similar contemporary exhibit I'm guessing that former President Bill Clinton's most historically appropriate hair would garnish the most interest, but perhaps not considering how many people have already had a peek.

(English) Found this on 'My Life and other Stuff', a blog by Scotty from South Africa.(Translated from the original Esperanto.) After his death, the famous Brazilian football (soccer) player went to heaven. Because even in heaven he didn't want to rest without doing anything, he started a football team, in which there were many other talented players. Now, word of this got to hell, and the chief devil invited the heavenly team to a championship game. Although nearly every famous player was in Pele's heavenly team, and though hell's team had only second-class players from an American prison team, hell won the match 10 to 1. Why? Simple--- all the referees were in hell!

(English) It's terrible weather today with a killer wind chill, so of course one of my goats had a baby. I had to bring it in the house to warm it up. My cat Claudius really loves the baby goat.

Auralia's Colors: Book Review on a Depressing Day * Libro-Revuo por Deprima Tago

(English) Today is the most depressing day of the year. Some lady on a news program said that. So it must be true. Why is it so depressing? Well, in my case: 1. The Green Bay Packers football team lost the game and won't be in the Superbowl. 2. The expensive goat died. 3. My dog played with a chicken. The chicken didn't die, but I had to bring her in the house. I hate having a chicken in the house. 4. I need to do laundry. I hate laundry. 5. Today is the first day of the Christian Science Fiction and Fantasy (CSFF) Blog Tour, and I haven't finished reading the book. But then, Auralia, the main character of Auralia's Colors by Jeffery Overstreet, had a rather depressing beginning. As an infant, she was lost or abandoned near the river. Two old thieves, working off their debt to society by working outside the walls of the city, find the child--- lying in a depression in the ground that turns out to be a monster's footprint. The thieves smuggle the child to the huts of the Gatherers--- those who live outside the walls of the House Abascar. This review may continue tomorrow. There may be giant lizards involved..... (English) The pope during his Christmas speech gave a short greeting in Esperanto. "Blessed Christmas and prosperous New Year" were his words. It is the custom for the Pope to give greetings in many languages for Christmas. A group of Esperanto-speakers were in St. Peter's Square and raised signs which spelled out the word "Esperanto". (English) Terri's Day Announced -- Groups Call for Special Remembrances of Terri Schiavo NEW YORK, Dec. 10 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation and Priests for Life have jointly announced the establishment of the "International Day of Prayer and Remembrance for Terri Schindler Schiavo, and All of Our Vulnerable Brothers and Sisters" ("Terri's Day"), to be observed each year on March 31, the date of Terri's death. The purpose of the day, the groups explained, is to foster education, prayer, and activism regarding discrimination against the disabled, and advocacy for people in situations similar to what Terri and her family faced. Fr. Frank Pavone said, "Those of us who were with Terri will never forget her life and her death. For the sake of all the vulnerable, it is critically important that those who never knew Terri likewise remember the lessons that God taught us through her." Suzanne Vitadamo, Terri's sister, adds "No family should ever have to witness what my family witnessed, watching a loved one slowly dehydrate to death. We want Terri's day to remind us all that persons with disabilities are never burdens and should be treated with nothing but our unconditional love and compassion." Esperanto La 'Hari Poter' libroj estas tradukita en multaj lingvoj tra la mondo. Nun oni volas krei Esperanto-tradukadon de la libroj. Estas retejo en Esperanto kaj angla pri la projekto. Vi povas subscribi petskribon, por helpi la projekto. Mi amas la Hari Poter libroj, kaj mi certe legos gin en Esperanto. La karikaturo supren estas el la 'faithmouse' retejo de Dan Lacey. English The Harry Potter series of books has been translated into many languages around the world. There is an effort under way to create an Esperanto translation of the books. There is a web site available in English and Esperanto about the project. You can sign a petition there to support the idea of the Harry Potter translation. I love the Harry Potter books, and would certainly like to read them in Esperanto. The cartoon above is from Dan Lacey's 'faithmouse' site. The wind has blown a Harry Potter dust jacket off the man's Bible. In the background are red banners of Harry Potter.
